Dr Mehrotra completed his BDS from the reputed King George Dental College, Lucknow in 1980. Then, he went on to complete his MDS - Orthodontics from King George Dental College, Lucknow in the year 1983.

Dr Mehrotra was awarded Fellowship of International College of Dentists in 2001. He has also been awarded Fellowship of World Federation of Orthodontists in the year 2009. Dr Mehrotra is a member of World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), Indian Endodontic Society, Indian Orthodontic Society and Indian Dental Association.
